This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival

Welcome and entertain them all

Be grateful for whatever comes
Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond

ABOUT

Miriam’s diverse background in the arts, psychology, and design deeply informs her therapeutic approach. Drawing on her experience across these fields, she skillfully addresses complex family dynamics while creating a nurturing environment for her clients. Miriam holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and following graduate studies, she completed four years of intensive post-graduate clinical training in psychoanalytic theory at VCC. With this robust foundation, she supports individuals and families through various challenges, fostering healing and growth in their relationships.

EXPERIENCE

Miriam successfully obtained her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology while actively engaging in further education and deepening her understanding of psychoanalytic theory. She remained involved with institutions such as the New Center for Psychoanalysis (NCP) and the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC), attending their insightful lectures and conferences to expand upon her knowledge of the psychoanalytic method. Miriam has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is currently working towards certification. She is also dedicated to pursuing a Psychoanalytic and Psychotherapy Certificate at the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC), with an expected completion date in 2023. This ongoing commitment to professional development reflects her dedication to staying current in her field and providing the best possible care to her patients.

Miriam completed her clinical training at Valley Community Clinic (VCC) in North Hollywood, where she received specialized training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. She had the privilege of receiving guidance, supervision, and mentorship from acclaimed psychoanalysts in Los Angeles during her clinical training at VCC. At VCC, she provided therapy to adolescents, adults and couples facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, obsessive and compulsive disorders, panic disorder and relational problems. Additionally, she gained valuable experience working at a private practice in Whittier, California, where she supported diverse populations dealing with a wide range of life challenges for a duration of four years.

In 2011, Miriam joined Professional Assessment and Treatment Services (PATS), a specialized training facility focusing on assisting survivors of rape, torture, and abuse. This training and practicum experience equipped her with the necessary skills to address various types of trauma, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, rape, and inter-generational trauma. Miriam's comprehensive training and hands-on experience have prepared her to provide compassionate care to individuals who have endured significant trauma.

INSURANCE AND FEES

I am an in-network provider for United Health insurance. For out of network individuals, I am able to provide you with a superbill that can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. The amount of reimbursement varies and depends upon the type of insurance coverage you have. It is your responsibility to call your insurance company to obtain these information about your benefits. Psychotherapy can be a tax-deductible depending on your financial situation and your total medical costs for the year. For details  please consult with your accountant.

Before establishing a therapeutic relationship, I would go over your eligibility and benefits in order to find out if you have a deductible a copay and additional details of your benefits pertaining to psychotherapy. I do charge for my time when the consultation session includes an evaluation and treatment planning as required by your insurance company.

If you’re interested in exploring how we might work together, let’s meet for an initial session to see if we’re a good match. This first session can help you get a sense of my approach, and if you find our time together helpful, we can then discuss ongoing sessions and fees. In initial session, we’ll have an opportunity to discuss a fee structure that meets both of our needs and feels manageable for you. My out of network rate for Individual Session is $200 per 50 minutes session and for Couples Session is $250 per session.Currently, I offer both in-person and online sessions to accommodate your needs. Please note that if you need to reschedule, a 48-hour notice is required to avoid the session fee.
